After a couple of comments received on my last post, I realize the difference between Cassandra Peterson and a man in drag dressed as Elvira may be a bit confusing to some. Ms. Peterson is the character actress who plays Elvira. She's the petite redhead on the left in the picture below. The much larger person dressed in black with big fake boobs is a San Francisco character named Peaches Christ.
While Cassandra Peterson (the original Elvira) was effectively raised by drag queens and has inspired thousands of men to wear dresses, she is not -- I repeat -- not a man.
Last night I went to the Bridge Theater with some friends for Midnight Mass, a campy drag-queenish affair hosted by Peaches Christ featuring none other then the Mistress of the Dark hersef, Elvira. I never really had much of a thing for Elvira, but her alter ego Cassandra Peterson is really hot. It's a shame the pictures came out so blurry. I could use a new camera.
